Below are answers to our most asked questions:
We do our Consignment by Appointment Wednesday - Sunday; please call to make an appointment. Consignors are invited to bring up to 30 items at a Scheduled Appointment including all seasonal clothing, jewelry, handbags, shoes, & accessories.
What do I consign?
If you have visited our shop, you know we offer lovely & carefully curated clothing, shoes, accessories and gift items that are geared to the high end market. All different tastes and sizes are celebrated. If it would make a woman feel beautiful, we are interested. Shoes need to be like-new, and clothing should be cleaned and preferably pressed when you bring them in. Colors we tend to need the most: Orange, Pink, Red, Aqua/Turquoise, Lavender, Green. More common colors like tan, brown, gray, black, black & white tend to be full, and we can't take items if we don't have a place for them. IF YOU'RE AN ARTIST, WE WANT TO SUPPORT YOU! HANDMADE ARTS, CLOTHING & CRAFTS ARE ADORED HERE!
How does the consignment work?
We offer a 40% share when your item sells. When your item is logged, a tag is produced that shows 3 prices . The highest price is reduced after 30 days by 20%; after 60 days the price is reduced by 30% off of the highest price. We reserve the right to offer discounts up to 15% at our discretion and when running store promotions. Items will remain for sale in our store for 90 days. It is up to the consignor to reclaim items before the 90 days are complete by making an appointment for items to be pulled. If such action is not taken, items will be automatically donated at/after 90 days. We will hold requested returns up to 4 days; at day 4 we will donate!
When do I get my money?
Consignors can pick up or request a check be written on the 3rd Friday of every month. We encourage you to check your on-line account (the information is on your agreement form) to see if you have a credit.
What happens to my items after 90 days?
Once your items have been on the floor for 90 days, your unsold items will either be donated or you can pick them up. We donate all our unsold items to the local Midway Battered Women's Shelter/All Good Living Foundation/Elizabeth House. If you wish to recollect your items, please call ahead of time and allow us 3-5 days to pull your items. Please call before the 90 day consignment period is complete. We will hold requested returned items up to 4 days; after day 4 we will donate items.
What if something is lost or damaged?
While we do what we can to prevent theft, loss & damage, it does happen from time to time. Aphrodite's Closet does press charges against any person caught shoplifting. We are unable to reimburse our consignors for these occurrences.
What if I change my mind?
You are welcome to pick up your items at ANY time for ANY reason; please call ahead first. Up until your item sells or 90 days, you maintain ownership of it. Please call ahead of time and allow us 3-5 days to pull your items.
